THE SASEBO PROJECT

Obscured by the mountains and ocean at the west tip of Japanese islands, Sasebo has been developed as the national defense city and shipbuilding town with the modernization of Japan. With its calm ocean and soft coastline, Sasebo consists of creature-like cranes at the dockyards, American and the Navy facilities, grey ships at the port, mysterious homicides on the news, women at the amusement area, the houses, alleyways and people climbing up the hillside; Sasebo has something no other cities have.I am not sure where the “heterogeneousness” of this city comes from, but hopefully I can illustrate some of it through this project.
